How to Make Meatballs from Scratch Recipe Step-by-Step Cooking Directions
-
Place the meat in the mixing bowl, then add the spices on top. Using a gloved hand mix the ingredients well together so to create an even mixture. An altnerative to this would be to use a dough mixer but this is not necessary. When the meat is mixed use the 1 ounce ladle to measure out each portion. Depending on the desired size for this meatball recipe you can use a half ounce ladle or even a two ounce ladle to make the meatball larger or smaller.
-
On a cutting board let the meat mixture drop out of the ladle and gently roll it into a meatball using the palms of your hand. Then, place it on a baking tray ready to go into the oven.
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, slide the baking tray into the oven and bake for 40 minutes total for the one ounce meatballs. Rotate the tray after 20 minutes to make sure the meatballs cook even.
-
Enjoy this traditional handmade meatball recipe on its own or over marinara sauce. Other options are to use this as a protein over al-dente pasta and grated parmesan cheese. You can also enjoy this handmade meatball recipe in a sourdough bun or with a light salad for a low-carb meal.
How to Make Meatballs Recipe Notes
Every meatball recipe requires a binder to make sure the meat sticks together to create a delectable round ball. In this handmade meatball recipe we use breadcrumbs as a binding agent. The breadcrumbs have gluten in them. This means this recipe is not suitable for those with a gluten allergy. Alternatives include using arrowroot or potato starch as binding agents for a gluten-free meatball recipe.
