This homemade mayo recipe is an emulsion of raw egg yolks and vegetable oil. As the yolks are continuously beaten, oil is added little by little until a thick cream results. Plain mayonnaise is flavored with lemon juice, mustard, or vinegar. Toss this on your mixed greens salad or use with a low calorie chicken salad.

Homemade Mayonnaise Recipe Ingredients.

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup of oil

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 Tbsp of dijon mustard

  • 2 Tbsp of lemon juice of vinegar

How to Make Mayo at Home Step-by-Step Directions

  1. Add your egg to the blender along with the Dijon, lemon juice or vinegar.

    Add first set of ingredients.


  2. Pulse the blender for about 2 seconds.

    Pulse for 2 seconds.


  3. After your egg is blended remove the cap of the blender and turn it on low speed.

    Remove the cap.


  4. Begin drizzling the oil into the egg VERY slowly! This part is extremely important if the oil is added too slowly the mayonnaise will not emulsify and will separate.

    Pour in Oil Very Slowly.


  5. Continue adding the oil to the mayonnaise and as the oil and other liquids begin to combine there will be a shift in the sound of the blender as it thickens.

    Mayo should be thick and not runny.


  6. Serve this homemade mayo recipe in an air-tight container or place into the refrigerator for later use.
